Storage and distribution company, Grocontinental, has launched its 2017 Apprenticeship Scheme and is inviting local people to apply for a range of positions.

The company has a number of roles on offer in its administrative and warehousing teams.

“We are looking for candidates who are willing to learn, have plenty of enthusiasm and are keen to work as part of a team,” explained HR manager, Gemma Molyneux. “We offer a high level of support to our apprentices and, because of the size of our business and the variety of job roles on offer, there are lots of opportunities for those looking for a secure career path.”

“If anyone would like to find out more about the scheme, we would ask them to call our Apprenticeship Hotline on 01948 668218 for an informal chat with one of our HR Team.”

One of the latest graduates of the company’s successful apprenticeship programme is 20-year-old Alex Yale.  Alex joined Grocontinental in 2015 and in just two years, after combining work experience with studying for a formal qualification, is now an established member of the Transport Team.  Speaking about his experience on the scheme, Alex said:

“I was really unsure of what to do when I finished school, but the apprenticeship scheme has proved to be a great choice for me. I have learned so much about the business in the time I have been here and had the opportunity of working in a number of different departments.

“There are a lot of different career options available at Grocontinental and the scheme has allowed me to see these first-hand and consider the areas my skills are most suited to.

“It’s a fast-paced business that never stops and it’s great to work in a dynamic atmosphere. I received a lot of support from managers and colleagues and I would thoroughly recommend the scheme to people looking to gain practical working skills while studying for a formal qualification too.”

Grocontinental will work with external training partner, SBC Training of Shrewsbury, who will manage formal training, academic elements of the training and assess competencies against the national apprenticeship standards.
