Back in the fold and heading up Grocontinental’s transport operation after two years away is Ross McPhillips, who has been confirmed as the company’s new Logistics Manager.
Ross joined Grocontinental’s Transport Department as a trainee in 2003 and left the company in 2013 to further his career with the Telford-based Morgan McLernon Transport.
But the home-grown talent is now back at Grocontinental, with specific responsibility for planning, driver management, meeting commercial objectives and legal compliance. He is, in effect, the key link between the Transport Team and the Operations and Customer Service Teams and will report directly to Steve Plant, Head of Operations.
David Grocott, Managing Director, said: “I remember Ross as a trainee and, like so many people here, he has worked hard to gain experience and expertise in his field. It’s great to see him back. He knows our business and understands what makes Grocontinental tick. We were delighted when Ross took the decision to re-join us to take up his new position of Logistics Manager.”
Away from the office, Ross lives in Telford and is married with two young children. An accomplished mechanic, he has worked on trucks and motorbikes involved in the British Superbikes Championship and the Isle of Man TT and says he is still happy to turn his hand to repairs and maintenance when required.
