Eagle-eyed Dave Jones jogged a few memories, including his own, when he spotted an unusual piece of cargo transported by Grocontinental in the 1970s.
The cargo in question was one of the balcony-ended carriages pulled on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, where Dave does some voluntary work. Dave, from our Transport Team, spotted the carriage and remembered seeing a picture of it being transported from Austria to North Wales in the 1970s.
The carriage - number B27 - is still carrying passengers on the 16 mile route taken by the railway through Mid Wales, which originally opened in 1903. B27 is one of a number of Austrian carriages on the railway and next year, there are plans to pair it with a newly-restored Austrian locomotive.
