Ben oversees the day-to-day management of relationships with our customers and is their key point of contact. He also manages our growing team of customer service professionals who support specific accounts.
His responsibilities include ensuring strong and effective working relationships with customers and promoting consistent service delivery standards.
An important aspect of Ben’s role is working with Commercial Director, Hugh Jones, to identify and develop new business opportunities for Grocontinental and to propose new commercial initiatives.
Very much part of our team of home-grown management talent, Ben joined our Customer Service Team in 2008 after gaining a degree in Business Management at Aberystwyth.
As part of his induction to the business and to provide him with a wide knowledge base, Ben spent time working in warehouse operations and assisting our busy Control Centre.
After spending three years as Customer Services Administrator, Ben was promoted to the position of Customer Service Manager in 2013 and, in 2015, he joined our Leadership Team as Commercial Manager.
He has also recently completed the Institute of Leadership and Management Diploma.
Farmer’s son Ben still helps out on his family’s farm in North Shropshire. Until recently, he was an active and energetic member of his local young farmers’ group, Wem YFC, where he was also the club’s Chairman.
Ben is also a keen sportsman and enjoys cycling, swimming and running. He has participated in a number of half marathons and triathlons.
