Matt has specific responsibility for the company’s budget and forecast preparation, development of KPI and tracker reports and managing cost centre reviews. He also provides financial support to our Commercial Department.
He plays a key role in supporting Grocontinental’s strategic plan by identifying and driving change initiatives including the continuous improvement of processes and reporting.
After completing his degree in Bristol, Matt spent a year in Melbourne, Australia, working in the finance department for Victoria Police. He says that this experience gave him a great grounding and helped to shape his ambitions for the future.
A great opportunity to join up-and-coming food packaging company, i2r in Telford, lured Matt back to his native Shropshire. He enjoyed a successful five-year career with the company, progressing from a Project Accountant role to Management Accountant. During his time with i2r, Matt spent a significant amount of time in Italy working with and learning from experts in their field to develop the company’s continuous improvement programme.
In 2013, Matt joined technology company Entagroup for two years, a much larger organisation in a transition phase. He thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of being part of a business managing change and also had the advantage of working with high-profile companies such as Microsoft.
Matt joined our Finance Team in 2015.
Matt grew up on a farm in North Shropshire and says that farming and rural issues are close to his heart.
Football is his big passion, along with a host of other adrenaline activities.
With a group of friends, Matt recently completed the infamous Three Peaks Challenge, conquering Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours to raise money for charity.
